BJ Nilsen (SE/NL) is a Swedish composer and sound artist based in Amsterdam, with a strong emphasis on field recording and soundscapes. His work is primarily focused on the sound of nature and its effects on humans. Recent works have explored the urban acoustic realm, and delved into the industrial soundscapes, in collaboration with filmmaker Karl Lemieux.

Further collaborations include notable projects with Chris Watson and Jóhann Jóhannsson, and with renowned choreographer Örjan Andersson and visual artist Femke Herregraven. He has contributed original scores, sound design, and soundtracks to various mediums, including theater, dance, TV, and film. Nilsen’s extensive discography spans over 30 years, with his latest release, Irreal (2021) on Editions Mego.
